Dennis Eugene Spallinger, 72, of Lindsey, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at his residence. He was born on August 12, 1946 in Bluffton to Gerald and Alice (Lentz) Spallinger.
Denny was a 1965 graduate of Angola High School and a 1968 graduate of Purdue School of Agriculture. He proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1965 to 1990. Denny was previously employed by the Oak Harbor Police Department. He was a dedicated truck driver for Durbin Trucking until his retirement in 2012. Denny was a member of Knights of Tiffin Motorcycle Club and the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed guns, drag racing and motorcycles in his younger years. Truck driving was his passion and his family enjoyed the stories he’d tell when he came home from the road. After his retirement, he spent time hanging with his friends at the coffee shop, tinkering in his garage and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed by all his family and friends.
On June 15, 1991, Denny married Lucinda McLaughlin in Fremont; she survives. Also surviving Denny are his children, Dana (Christine) Spallinger of Cannonsburg, PA, Kelly Alan Spallinger of Gulf Port, MS, Tracy (Tara) Spallinger of Forrest, OH, Tracie (David) Cress of Fremont, Jonathan (Nikki) Laird of Bettsville, and Andrew (JJ) Laird Rogers of Toledo; grandchildren, Morgan & Alyssa Cress, Jonnie & Camden Laird, Kalan & Zach Spallinger, Maxwell & Ashton Spallinger, Seth, Jordana & Brayden Haley and Tristan & Makanne Steele; bonus grandson, Logan Taylor; special daughter-in-law, Jodi Laird; and brothers, Wayne (Bonnie) Spallinger of Pleasant Lake, IN and Steve (Christine) Spallinger of Waterloo, IN.
Denny is preceded in death by his father, Gerald; and brother, Gary Spallinger.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2019, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Camp Perry Lodging and Conference Center, 1000 N. Lawrence Road, Port Clinton, Ohio, 43452.
