Dennis L. Fitzgerald

Dennis L. "Fitz" Fitzgerald, 83 of Gibsonburg passed away on December 17, 2023 at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon. He was born on October 3, 1940 to the late Forest L. and Delores (Gracemeyer) Fitzgerald in Fremont. 

A 1958 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, Dennis went on to graduate from the American School of Banking and started his banking career with Liberty National Bank. He worked for the Home Banking Company of Gibsonburg and 5/3 Bank of Gibsonburg before moving to the Reino Linen Company, where he worked as the General Manager. 

On June 17, 1961, Dennis married Sharon R. Kilgus in Fremont, and have shared over 62 years together. 

Dennis was a member of Shiloh Global Church, the Gibsonburg Lions, the Port Clinton Yacht Club, and was a Mason, recently receiving his 60 year pin. He enjoyed fishing with his buddy, Tom, and received the achievement of becoming a Great Lakes Charter Captain. Dennis's greatest joy in life was spending precious time with his great-grandson, Theo. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon; children, Brian Fitzgerald of Houston, TX, and Denise Kosec of Gibsonburg, OH; brother, Fred (Linda) Fitzgerald of Clyde, OH; granddaughter, Emily (Tyler Crump) Hepperly; and great-grandson, Theo Jax Crump. 

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Delores; and siblings, Richard (Donna) Fitzgerald, Joanne (Doug) Green, and Sheila (Jim) Long. 

Visitation for Dennis will be held on Thursday, December 21, from 1:00-3:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm with masonic services being held at 6:45pm at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, Gibsonburg. Funeral services will be held the following day, Friday, December 22 beginning at 10:00am at the funeral home with an hour of visitation prior to services. In keeping with Dennis's wishes, burial will be held at a later date. 

Donations in Dennis's name may be made to Shiloh Global Church in Helena, or to his daughter, Denise Kosec for the establishment of an education fund for his great-grandson, Theo.
