Delaine “Bud” Orndorff, 88, of Lindsey, passed away on November 25, 2021. He was born the son of Homer and Mae (Parker Himelright) Orndorff on November 18, 1933, in Star Tannery, VA. Bud attended Strasburg High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he finished his education and served at Panama during the Korean War. On April 21, 1956, he married Dolores Binder in Fremont, Ohio, and they enjoyed 51 years of marriage until her passing on June 27, 2007.
Bud was a road superintendent for the Sandusky County Engineer Office. In his free time, he loved spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, gardening or working on his yard. He cherished the time he spent with his friends and family the most. Bud was a member of the Gibsonburg Masonic Lodge #575 as well as Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lindsey.
Left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Gene Orndorff of Fremont, Sharron Conklin of Green Springs, Erma Conner of Winchester, VA, Daphna Clem of Star Tannery, VA, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Dolores Orndorff, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Phyllis Copeland, Madeline Orndorff, Moline Williams, Homer Orndorff, Rodney Orndorff, and Darlene Hasselbach.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 6, 2021, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with Masonic services at 7:30 pm at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 11:00 am at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 3557 US 20, Lindsey, OH, 43442. Burial with military honors will follow at Washington Chapel Cemetery. The family kindly requests that masks be worn at all services. For those unable to attend, live-streaming of Bud’s services will be available on the funeral home’s main page under the Live Webcasts tab.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
