David Clapp, 76 of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway. He was born on February 2, 1947 in Columbus, Ohio to the late William and Dorothy (Drayton) Clapp. He was a 1965 graduate of Fremont Ross High and a 1970 graduate of Marietta College, Marietta, OH.
David was a US Army Veteran serving in the 1st of the 7th Infantry Regiment during Vietnam. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with a Distinction of Valor and also received an Army Air Medal while in Vietnam. David retired after 40 years as a Petroleum Engineer. He was an avid Marksman. David was a member of the Methodist Temple in Evansville.
David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Georgia Clapp of Newburgh; sons, Brett Clapp (Mallory) and Michael Clapp (Gretchen); grandchildren, Taylor, Ella, Elizabeth and Abigail Clapp, Tyler and Paige Billings, and Taylor Jacinto; sisters, Judy Cooper and Caryl Koenig
A Private Service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Fremont, Ohio.
