David L. Claar Sr., 78, of Fremont passed away on January 29, 2024 in Arizona after a long battle with lung cancer. David was born on March 8, 1945 to Alton R. Sr. & Caroline (Camden) Claar in Fremont, OH. He was a 1963 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. On October 23, 1992 he married Carol (Reid) Stanley in Tennessee and she survives.
Dave was employed for 25 years at Moore Business Forms, then he worked for 3 other printing companies. He finished his career at H.J. Heinz where he worked for 7 years until he retired in 2007. Dave had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh! He was a member of Grace Community Church. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and Jeopardy, traveling/sightseeing, camping, & hiking.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Carol, of Fremont, OH; Sisters, Carolyn Ingram of Tennessee and Beatrice Rosenberger of Florida. Sons, David L. Claar Jr. (Marla) of Swanton; Aaron Stanley of Clyde and Kenneth (Janice) Stanley of Green Springs; Daughters, Connie Koebel of Fremont and Donna (Dave) Henkel of Fremont. Grandchildren, Tiffany Koebel (Nick) of Findlay; Joshua Koebel (Ashley) of Fremont; Tara Artz (Kevin) of Fremont; Steven Blodgett (Brittany) of Fremont; Rachael Claar of Fremont; Amanda Claar (Keith) of Fremont; Holly (Steven) Pearson of Fremont; Ryan (Danielle) Stanley of Fremont; Kennedy Stanley (Jacqueline Mata) of Tiffin; Noah (Morgan) Henkel of Canton and Nolan Henkel of Fremont. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren. Dave is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Alton R. Claar Jr. (Sonny); sister-in-law, Barbara Claar; brother-in-law, James Darrell (J.D.) Ingram Sr.; the mother of his children, Frances (Hallier) Claar and his grandson, David L. Claar III.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 9, 2024, 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Rd. Fremont. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church with burial following the service at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in Clyde.
