David Blausey

October 4, 1951 — January 12, 2021

David L. Blausey, 69, of Gibsonburg passed away in the early morning of January 12, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 4, 1951 to the late Lloyd W. and Lois F. (Hawk) Blausey, David was one of three children. He graduated from Gibsonburg High School and Vanguard Vocational Center in 1970, and on March 2, 1974, he married Kathleen Keller, who survives.

David worked for multiple businesses throughout his nearly 50-year career as a forklift mechanic, starting with Atlas Industries. He then went on to Buck and Knobby Equipment, Miami Industrial Trucks, and Towlift Inc. Along with being a mechanic, Dave also farmed with his brother Dennis until their mother’s passing. Dave’s inability to sit still for long led him to his current post-retirement job as groundskeeper with the Sandusky County Parks District.

Dave was a proud and passionate member of the Gibsonburg Area Jaycees. He held the office of Vice President with the Ohio Jaycees and was a member of the JCI Senate. He also picked up a love of dartball, which would last 40 years; first joining the Sandusky County Dartball League with Gibsonburg Church of Christ, then later on with Faith United Methodist Church. A 40 plus year career with Gibsonburg’s Men’s Rack and Cue was another way that Dave was a part of his community. He was the group’s current Treasurer.

His family will remember Dave as a loving, kind and caring man, who always made sure his children and grandchildren were taken care of.  He instilled a strong work ethic into his kids and grandkids. They will remember his diehard love of The Ohio State Buckeyes and nights spent at the sprint car races together.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kathy; children, Andrea (Steve) Roper of Risingsun, Lisa Jones of Fremont, Kristopher (Cassie) Blausey of Louisville, KY, and Megan Blausey of Fremont; grandchildren Haylee (Phil) Rupright, Josh Heard, Johnathon (Marisa) Roper, Isaiah Jones – U.S. Air Force, Germany, Emilee Roper, Amaya (Owen) Jones, Drew Roper, Journie Jones, and Arya Blausey; great-granddaughter, Temperance Rupright; two great-grandsons on the way; siblings, Sandra Kay (Jim) Goodman of Rapid City, SD, and Dennis (Wendy) Blausey of Gibsonburg; siblings-in-law, Dennis Keller, Mark (Laura) Keller, both of Gibsonburg and Brooke Keller, Lansing, MI; many nieces and nephews, and his favorite four-legged family members, Heidi, and “grand-dog”, Molly.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lois; parents-in-law, Richard and Norma Keller; siblings-in-law, Kurt Keller, Jane and Thomas Beckley; and nephew, Matthew Beckley.

The Blausey Family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the compassionate staff of Firelands Regional Medical Center for their continued care.
