Dale Norman Schutt, 83, of Woodville, passed away on June 14, 2021 at Parkview Care Center in Fremont, Ohio. He was born on January 18, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to Henry Fred and Mildred (Felker) Schutt. Dale attended Waite High School and earned his GED while serving in the United Stated Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge, Dale worked for the Toledo Pressed Steel Co. until his retirement in 1983. On June 4, 1999 he married Carolyn Wick at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Oregon, Ohio, and she survives.
Dale will be well remembered for his jolly and upbeat personality. He could always find the bright-side in any situation. Dale enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, dancing, going to the casino, playing bingo and was a skilled woodworker. Out of all his passions in life, nothing beat the love he had for being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn Schutt of Woodville, children; Jeffrey Schutt of Carefree, AZ, Keith Schutt of Toledo, OH, Dale (Mindy) Schutt Jr., of Curtice, OH, step-children; Jane (Thomas) Wicks of Woodville, Richard McCarthy of Woodville, Sean (Denise) McCarthy of Wasilla, AK, Laurence (Becky) McCarthy of Woodville, Joel (Rob) McCarthy of Westford, MA, Nicole (Kent) Bigelow of Fort Drum, NY, 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandchild, Tasha Gander and siblings; Nan, Phyllis, Howard, Ralph and Jeannette.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 25, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Julie Beitelschees will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at West Union Cemetery in Gibsonburg, Ohio.
Dale's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care. His team; Nurse Rachel, Aide Julie and Home Aide Rhonda were especially wonderful. In addition, his family would like to thank Pastor Julie Beitelschees not only for her spiritual care but for her unwavering support during this difficult time.
