Clarence E. Dietz Jr., "Shorty", 85 of Gibsonburg passed away on February 25, 2025 at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont. He was born on May 8, 1939 to the late Clarence Sr. and Bertha (Knotts) Dietz in Anderson, IN.
Clarence worked as a dryer loader for The Standard Lime Company until his retirement in 2000.
On December 28, 1991, he married Fern L. Matter at the Victory Evangelical Church in Risingsun. Together they shared 33 wonderful years of marriage.
Clarence enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, as well as spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Gibsonburg Community Church and greatly enjoyed his time there.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Fern of Gibsonburg; children, Rebecca Dietz of Elmore, Eugene (Marilyn) Sherman of Fremont, Richard (Donna) Sherman of Fremont, Lisa (Scott) Oestreich of Van Buren, and John (Betty) Helle of Gibsonburg; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Bertha; son, Paul Dietz; daughter, Deborah Streeter; siblings, Melvin Dietz, Jack Dietz, Margie Robinette, Bill Dietz, Beverly Fuller, and Zelma Trublood.
Visitation for Clarence will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 9:00-11:00AM at the Gibsonburg Community Church with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
Donations in Clarence's name may be made to the Gibsonburg Community Church.
