Charles Melvin Wightman Sr.

Charles Melvin Wightman Sr., 84, of Fremont, passed away January 28, 2022, at the Toledo Hospital. He was born in Fremont on June 26, 1937, to Oliver Franklin and Edna (Hineline) Wightman. Charles proudly entered the United States Army on September 14, 1960, where he was a sharpshooter specialist. He received an honorable discharge on July 3, 1962. On February 23, 1963, he married the love of his life, Diana Minzer, at the First United Church of Christ in Fremont. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2021.

Charles was a millwright for American Steel Treating for many years and retired in the late 90's. He loved being outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing on his boat, riding his Harley or mowing his lawn. He also loved playing his electric guitar and woodworking. Most of all, Charles loved his family, and was proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Brenda (Bruce) Hosley of Toledo, Tonya (Jeff) Mcdowell of Toledo, Charles (Krissy) Wightman Jr., of Fremont, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Diana Wightman, and was the last of his siblings. 

There will be no services for Charles at this time.
