Charlene Mireles

Charlene Mireles, 85, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on February 10, 2024. She was born on June 6, 1938, to Edward Flick and Alvira Flick-Gnepper in Oak Harbor, Ohio. She attended school in Graytown as well as at Oak Harbor High School. On July 5, 1955, she married Marvin Mireles in Angola, IN, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2016.

Charlene was a self-made and hard worker. She owned and operated 4M Cleaners for 16 years and later became a cashier for Walmart, a job which she thoroughly enjoyed, for 17 years until her retirement. Charlene loved spending time with her grandchildren and gathering with the whole family for the holidays. But she waited with the most anticipation for Thanksgiving at Rusty’s house every year. She loved doing puzzles and was a master sewer who would make clothing for her children and even taught her daughters how to sew when they were young. She would later make Halloween costumes every year for her grandchildren. Charlene also had a talent for crochet. She made blankets for everyone in the family, and always had loads of yarn on hand, ready for her next project. Charlene is fondly remembered for always making sure her hair was styled and particularly loved having it colored and highlighted.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bryan Mireles, Rebecca Sahagun, Thea Gonzales, Tina Terrones; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Beutler and DeAnna Baumert.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Eddington.

Per Charlene’s request there will be no services at this time. She will be laid to rest with her husband at a later date at Harris-Elmore Cemetery.
