Barbara R. Borer, 84 of Fremont passed away at home with her loving family by her side. She was born December 9, 1939 in Fremont, the daughter of Ralph W. and LaRue V. (Gnepper) Flick.
Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and managed to keep in touch and socialize with classmates through reunions and a smaller group self-dubbed “57 Club” that met monthly over a meal. She studied business education and graduated from Bliss College in Columbus, Ohio.
She married John E. Borer on December 26, 1959. They spent nearly 50 years together until his passing in 2007. She assisted him in starting and building his business, Borer Mirror and Glass in 1978.
Barbara enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to her children while they were young. After her children were in school, she began working for Bill Snyder-Dick Binau Insurance until her retirement after 30 years. She was happy to become a stay-at-home grandma for her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She enjoyed vacationing with her family and friends.
She loved growing vegetables, canning, planting flowers, baking, and sewing. She was also a long-time member of the Plant and Bloom Garden Club. She was confirmed, married, and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, member of the Altar Guild, and president of Abigail’s Circle for many years.
She is survived by her children, Brenda Lowery, Livonia MI, John W. (Chris), Romeo MI, and Betsy (Jerry) Snodgrass, Fremont, her grand-daughters, Lindsay (Joe) Mosteller, Abby Offenburg, grandson, Aiden Snodgrass, great-grandchildren, Ryker Busack and Cecelia “CeCe” Mosteller, brother, John (Gisela) Flick of Palm Springs, CA. Barbara also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews for whom she always held a special place in her heart.
She would also like to thank all her caregivers over the years along with Heartland Hospice with a special thanks to Morgan.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Roger Flick.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 212 N. Clover Street, Fremont, OH 43420, or to Heartland Hospice, 907 W. State St., Suite A, Fremont, OH 43420.
There will be a Memorial Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 9, at 11:00 AM, with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
