Alice A. (Smith) Johnson, a life-long resident of Fremont, Ohio was born to Ralph and Lillian (Claar) Smith on September 26, 1938. Alice died on September 6, 2022 with her family by her side.

Alice played several musical instruments, was a member of the high school basketball team, and enjoyed animals. It is said that every dog loved her. Her hobbies and interests included family, gardening, reading, bingo, and collecting mementos.

After graduating from Fremont Ross in 1956 she continued her education at Bowling Green State University. Alice married Curtis Johnson on November 2, 1957. Family was very important to her and creating memories with family adventures. She supported her children in all of their interests. Alice continued adventure seeking with Curtis in their travels across the country in their RV. She loved walking the Baja Peninsula soaking up the sand and surf while collecting seashells.

Alice worked as a substitute teacher in the Fremont School District. She enjoyed working with flowers and owned Timpe’s Daisy Patch for 15 years. Her exceptional floral arrangements were on display at many weddings, including her children and grandchildren’s weddings. Her joy of flowers carried over to her backyard where she continued to work in her garden for the rest of her life. Alice worked as a cashier at Great Scott grocery where she enjoyed interacting with the community.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jim. She is survived by her husband, Curtis, four children, Bambi (David) Lynch, Tiffin, OH, Ed, Garden Grove, CA, Dawn (Mark) Wendorf, Lantana, TX, Jill (Mike) Laconis, Clyde, OH; grandchildren Melanie (Chris) Rapp, Shawn (Dianne) Lynch, Tony (Desiray) Hartshorn, Cory Hartshorn, Kyle (Ashley) Hartshorn; and great-grandchildren, Patrick, Shelby and Regina Lynch, Garett and Kali Hartshorn, Maxwell Hartshorn, Ashtyn and Kimberlyn Hartshorn.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, September 9, 2022, from 4pm to 7pm at Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Crematory, 900 North Street, Fremont OH 43420.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 10:33am at the funeral home with burial to follow at Four Mile House Cemetery in Fremont. For those unable to attend, live-streaming of Alice’s services will be available on her obituary page on the funeral home’s website.
