Darlene Elizabeth Brown

Darlene E. Brown, 89, formerly of Fremont, OH. died Sunday morning at Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, SC. She was born on October 7, 1915 in Gibsonburg, OH to Clarence & Julia (Laderman) Smith. On May 3, 1935 she married Royel Brown in Indiana. His death occurred on July 11, 1979. Mrs. Brown worked as a seamstress for The Howard Zink Co. in Fremont for 27 years retiring in 1977. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont for over 50 years, active in its Daughters Circle and Altar Guild. She was a volunteer at Countryside Continuing Care Center. Mrs. Brown and was a 1933 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. She moved to Orangeburg, SC in 1999 to be near her daughter and family and became a member of The Orangeburg Lutheran Church. Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter Donna (Robert) McCullough, Orangeburg, SC; a son Ronald Brown, Charleston, SC.; one sister, Norma Kinney, Normal, IL; two brothers, C. Ray Smith, Fostoria, OH. and Don Smith, Fremont, OH; Five grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, one son, Raymond Brown and one brother, P. Roy Smith. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, 11:00 A.M. March 30 at the Orangeburg Lutheran Church, Orangeburg, SC. Graveside services will be held Saturday 11:00 A.M. April 2, at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, Oh. There is no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by The Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont OH. Memorial Contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Orangeburg Lutheran Church.
