Homer V Brown

March 11, 1916 — January 3, 2008

Homer Brown, 91 of Holland, Ohio, died on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at St. Lukes Hospital, Maumee, OH. He was born on March 11, 1916 in Monclova, OH to the now deceased Frank and Alice (Sasse) Brown. Homer attended Lake High School and Fremont Ross High. On July 3, 1939, he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Burkett in Fremont. She died in 2006. Homer served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was talented in many areas including radio, television and electronics, wood working, metal lathe projects. He designed and built his own house in Sylvania, OH in the 1950s. Homer was an active member of the Toledo Power Squadron and he & his wife spent many days boating with friends on lakes and rivers. When he retired from Teledyne Aviation in Toledo in 1971, they moved to Naples, FL, where he started Marine Engine Services, a Mercury repair business. He and Margaret lived there for 34 years. Homer was active in Naples Optimist club and loved boating, fishing, card games with friends and walking the beach. He and Margaret returned to Ohio in 2005. He is survived by daughters, Anne (Tom) Downs of Maumee, Jean (Phil) Ramsey of San Ysidro, NM, Sue (Bruce) Peterson of Independence, OR; grandchildren Elizabethe (Dan) Steele, Darren (Marlene) Downs, Martin (Melissa) Downs, Kyle & Colin Ramsey; great-grandchildren, Cameron & Jared Downs, Catherine Steele.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 7th from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home in Fremont. A service will follow visitation on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to the Naples Florida Optimist Club.
