Marlene Elizabeth (Miarer) Amor, 69, of rural Fremont, passed away peacefully at her home on April 20, 2007 following a valiant five year battle against lung cancer. She was born on November 9, 1937 in Fremont to Elmer Harold and Viola Cora (Smith) Miarer. She graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1955, and the Virginia Farrell-Delmar Beauty School in Detroit, Michigan in 1956. Marlene married William A. Amor of Fremont on August 11, 1957 and assisted him in the operation of the Miarer-Armor Farms. She was also employed at the BonTon Beauty Salon in Fremont and later operated her own beauty salon in her house on the family farm for 20 years. Marlene was an active, life long member of the Fremont First Presbyterian Church where she served as elder, deacon, and moderator and treasurer of the Presbyterian Womans Board. She was a member of the adult bell choir, Rainbow Station Board, Craft Circle, and the Fall Bazaar and bi-annual Rummage Sale committees. She also was a teacher for Sunday school, vacation bible school and Pioneer Club, institutional representative for Boy Scout troop 312, and den mother for Cub pack 312. Marlene volunteered as an adult leader for Campfire Girls and Horizon Club. She served as president of the Fremont chapter of the Ohio Cosmetologist Association, the Sandusky County Federation of Farm Woman, and the State Federation of Farm Woman. She was a member of the Pi chapter of Sigma Phi, Bide-A-Wee farm Womans club, and Wa-Ja-Sa Council of the Sandusky County Farm Bureau. Marlene was a volunteer for the Sandusky County Share and Care Center as the shoe Buyer. Marlene was survived by her sister, Diane Sue (John G.) Roush of Fremont; husband of 49 years, Bill; three children, Amy Sue (Kent) Davidson of Bowling Green, Troy (Denise) and Kyle (Jody) Amor, both of Fremont; six grandchildren, Cody (Hayley) Amor, Amanda and Samantha Davidson, Kaylee, Kole, and Alyssa Amor; and a great-grandchild, Cyler Amor. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and three infant siblings.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. William McConnell officiating. Burial will follow at Four-mile House Cemetery.
