Irvine O. Abney, 82 of Morrison Rd., Fremont died Tuesday evening. He was born on September 16, 1924 in Irvine, KY to the now deceased Charles and Eva Lee (Tyree) Abney. Irvine was a 1943 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, having served on the Starlight. On October 3, 1953 he married Janice Batch in Huron, OH and she survives. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and served on the church council. Irvine was a past president of the Firelands Branch of the Society of Plastic Engineers and worked for Whirlpool for 35 years before his retirement. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lori Sherman of Clyde and Beth Abney of Fremont; granddaughter, Jennifer Abney; grandson, Ryan Sherman and a sister, Bernice Dosenzuk of Kansas City, MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy Stover and Ola May Abney; brothers, Jessie, Raymond, Orville and Buford Abney.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be on Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. with visitation at church one hour prior to the services. Pastor Robert Young will officiate. Burial will follow at Faith Lutheran Cemetery with Military Services by the American Legion Post #121 and the VFW post #2947.
Memorial donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Hospice of Memorial Hospital or the donors choice.
