William R. Burkhart

William Bill R. Burkhart, 85 of Gibsonburg, died on Thursday, March 6th 2008 at Fremont Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 6, 1922 in Toledo to the now deceased Rinold William and Ida (Jackson) Burkhart. Bill attended St. Teresa School and Libbey High School in Toledo. He served in the Coast Guard during WWII. Bill owned and operated the franchise for Archway Cookies in Toledo until retiring in 1986. On June 6, 1942 he married Doris Bashaw, and on June 14, 1985 he married Marie Reinbolt and she survives. Bill was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the American Legion both of Gibsonburg. He was a former member of the Harbor View Yacht Club. Bill enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating and traveling with his wife. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by children, Rinold Rick W. (Christine) Burkhart of Maumee, Lindajo Burkhart of St. Cloud, FL, Kim (Bernard) Croskey of Toledo, Kenneth (Tanya) Burkhart of Rock Hill, SC, Tina (David) Pruss of Holland, OH; stepchildren, John Reinbolt of Gibsonburg and Christine (Kenneth) Wilson of Hanna, IN; eleven grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Rita) of Toledo and Gerald Jerry (Phyllis) of Holland, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Michael Burkhart, a grandson, Carl Cal Ovall, granddaughter; Nichole Marie Piasecki, great-granddaughter; Amelia Marie Pruss and brothers, Paul and John Jack Burkhart. Visitation will be on Monday, March 10th from 2-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at St. Michaels Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2:45 PM at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Toledo. Memorial donations may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church or to a Charity of the donors choice in Bills memory.
