Lucy V. Burmeister, age 87, died at her Lindsey, Ohio home Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2006. She was born on December 1, 1918 in Colby, Ohio to William and Amy (Homler) Michael. Lucy was a 1938 Fremont Ross graduate and on April 27, 1939 she married Carl "Todd" Burmeister Sr. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1990.
Lucy retired from the former Woolworths Department Store in Fremont where she had worked for over 25 years. A devoted mother and grandmother, she loved spending time with her family and enjoyed quilting, sewing and gardening. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Fremont.
Surviving are children, Nancy (Tom) Shearer of Greensboro, NC, Carl W. (Darlene) Jr. of Lindsey, Mary (Joe) Garvin of Fremont and Paul (Sue) of Fremont; grandchildren, Judy Adair, Elizabeth Shearer, Shelly Shearer, Jason Burmeister, Jodi Burmeister, Brian Burmeister, Amy Schneider, Bill, Michael and Ted Garvin; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Adeline Tittle, Susan Oberst and Dorothy Michael all of Fremont; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Johnny, Oscar, Ernest, Sherman, Wilbert, Claude, and Carl Michael and a grandson, Thomas Shearer.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont from 3-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Quillen officiating. Burial will follow at the Four Mile House Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to The American Diabetes Assoc., The American Heart Association or St. John's Lutheran Church in Lucys name.
