Mildred Millie Nitschke Burns, 92, formerly of Gibsonburg, died early Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Bethesda Care Center, Fremont. Born June 7, 1916 in Fremont, Ohio, the daughter of Ernest and Lulu (Draper) Risenburg. On April 11, 1970 she married Claude Red Burns and he preceded her in death. Millie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg and the American Legion. She enjoyed attending her church, baking, socializing, traveling and crocheting.
Surviving are children, Judy Nitschke, Dr. Lon (Gloria) Nitschke both of Fremont, Stephen (Marty) Nitschke of El Paso, TX and Roger (Karen) Nitschke of Little Rock, AK; stepdaughters, Pat (Roger) Koppelman of Green Springs, OH and Barb (Buck) Walt of Walbridge, OH; 9 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and 1 step great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Harold Nitschke and Claude Red Burns, sister Phyllis Ridenour, brother Glen Risenburg, daughter Barbara Schafer Floyd, stepson Butch Burns, and grandson Dr. Mark Nitschke.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 12 noon at Trinity United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg with Pastor Fritz Merkes officiating. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Hospice of Memorial Hospital and or Trinity United Methodist Church in Millies memory.
