Wilfred Jake W. Aldrich, 90, formerly of Gibsonburg and Lindsey, died early Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Parkview Care Center, Fremont. He was born on March 30, 1917 in Gibsonburg to the now deceased Lew and Marie (Crispen) Aldrich. Jake was a WWII U. S. Army veteran serving in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland Central Europe. He was a longtime farmer and mechanic retiring in 1979. On September 7, 1946 he married Betty Bohnhoff in Napoleon, OH. She preceded him in death, 2 weeks after celebrating their 61st wedding anniversary on September 21, 2007. Jake was a member of the Eagles and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He enjoyed bird and squirrel watching, gardening, shooting pool, playing cards especially Euchre and Pinochle and having a good time with family and friends.
Surviving are children: Juanita (Dennis) Patynko of Fremont, Fritz (Karla) of Salem, WI, Larry (Karen) of Lindsey, Carol (Jim) Biehler, Nancy (Robert) Pressler both of Fremont, Brenda (Dennis) Herman of Mishawaka,IN, Tim of Lindsey and Todd of Olympia, WA; sixteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and sister, Harriet Adkins of Bradenton, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother-in-law, Carl Adkins.
Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jakes name may be made to the Lindsey V.F.D. or Parkview Care Center, Fremont in care of Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home, 900 North St., Fremont, OH 43420.
