Lewis R. Anderson, 89, of Helena, died early Friday morning, May 12, at Windsor Lane Health Care Center, Gibsonburg. He was born on May 22, 1916 in Bowden, GA to the now deceased James Warner and Pearl (Moore) Anderson. Lewis was a farmer in Georgia and later a forklift driver at Atlas Industries in Gibsonburg, retiring in 1981. On July 13, 1936 he married Lemerle V. Messer in Alabama and she died May 24, 2002. Lewis enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving is a son, Alvin Lewis (Janie) Anderson of Helena, 2 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and sister, Mary Alice Johnson of Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant son, one brother, 9 sisters, and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 14 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Robert Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Gardens (formerly Memory Gardens) in Arcadia. Memorials may be made to Victory Evangelical Church in Risingsun, OH.
