Norman Carnicom, 83, of Gibsonburg, passed away on Saturday afternoon, December 20, 2008 in Fremont. He was born on January 5, 1925 to Clyde Butch and Cora (Aldrich) Carnicom. On December 7, 1953 he married Eleanor Bakies in Carey.
After completing his Jr. Year of high school Norman enlisted in the Army where he served as Military Police. When he completed his service he returned home to work for the Dolite-Pfizer Lime Plant and also at Millersville Lime where for over 40 years he welded and worked maintenance. Norman loved to spend time with his family. He was said to be a natural athlete. He golfed, bowled and especially enjoyed volleyball.
Surviving Norman are his children, Pam (Lee) Winkle, Fremont, Dennis (Karen) Carnicom, Gibsonburg, Barb (Tim) Sammet, Carey, Shirley (Tim) Reno, Helena, David (Chandra) Carnicom, Helena, and Doug (Heather) Carnicom, Gibsonburg; sixteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor who passed in 2005; parents; and brothers Lee and Richard Carnicom.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 22nd from 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Lee Winkle officiating. There will be an additional visitation starting one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Metzgar Cemetery.
Family request memorials honoring Norman be made to the Gibsonburg Veterans Memorial or to a charity of the donors choice.
