Norma R. (Ringle) Arnold, age 82, a lifelong resident of Gibsonburg, Ohio, born, February 17, 1923 to Donald and Rachel (Myers) Ringle, died Monday morning, October 17, 2005. In her final days, she was surrounded by her loving husband, Herbert B. Arnold and her children, Debra S. (Dennis) Fahle of Gibsonburg and Gregory L. (Joan) Arnold of Sylvania.
She graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1941 and attended Tri-State Business School. During World War II, Norma worked at the Erie Ordnance Depot proving grounds.
Following the war, she married Herbert on March 5, 1946 at the First English Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg. She was active at First English, her life long Church home, where she was involved as a Sunday and vacation bible schoolteacher, bible study circle groups and wherever else the need arose.
Norma enjoyed several different work experiences during her long life including the position of a Sandusky County Deputy Registrar issuing licenses, serving as the Village Clerk of Gibsonburg and selling Avon for several years.
A member of the Gibsonburg Garden Club, she spent countless hours beautifying planters at the Village Hall and elsewhere in the community. Norma also enjoyed the competition between rival garden clubs at the Sandusky County Fair.
Norma Western Square Danced with Herb for many years in the 60s and 70s, as they were both members of numerous dance clubs in the area.
In addition to her husband and children, Norma is survived by grandchildren, Mark (Katrina) Fahle, Brent (Kelly) Fahle, Daniel, Steven, Angela, Samuel and Emily Arnold; great grandson, Grant Arnold Fahle and step great grandson, Bryant Hagemann. She is preceded in death by her sister, Leona Kiser and her brother, Norman Ringle.
Visitation will be held at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 319 West Madison Street, Gibsonburg on Sunday, October 23, between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. and then at the First English Lutheran Church from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Normas life and her entrance into heaven will follow the visitation at the Church at 4:00 p.m. Final committal services will be immediately afterwards at Quinshan Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
The family wishes to thank all those who expressed their sympathy and support for Norma during her battle with cancer, including friends, church members and those at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family expresses a special thank you to Pastor Eric Schwochow for his caring concern, support and prayers.
