He was born on April 23, 1935 in Canaan, WV to the now-deceased Virgil and Lela (Strader) Chidester, Sr. and attended school in Canaan, WV. On September 15, 1956 he married Olive Boger in Angola, IN and she survives. Virgil served in the Marine Corp and worked as a drywall installer for Don Borsick Drywall of Sandusky, retiring 1989. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsey, the Fremont Eagles, Moose and VFW. Virgil enjoyed gardening, the History and Nova Channels, sitting on the swing, fishing, eating perch at the Eagles and woodworking.
Surviving are children, Ron (Cindy) Chidester of Pierceton, IN, Chris (Mark) Clark of Lancaster, OH, Lin (Ken) Roy of Columbia City, IN, Bev (Ed) Pedrosa of Oak Harbor,OH, Don (Marshella) Chidester of Newport, MI; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Joe (Barbara) Chidester, Arlene (Charlie) Currence all of Mill Creek, WV, Larry (Diane) Chidester of Elkins, WV and Leonard (Libby) Chidester of Montrose, WV.
Preceding him in death are his parents and brother, William Chidester.
Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsey with one hour of visitation at church prior to the service on Saturday. Pastor Todd Gates will be officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Lindsey Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the church in Virgils name.
