Michael A. Cinicola, 89 of Gibsonburg, died early Tuesday morning at Countryside Continuing Care Center, Fremont. He was born on January 9, 1916 in Gibsonburg to John and Maria (Ruggiero) Cinicola. Michael attended Gibsonburg schools and as a teenager he started his own shoe repair shop. He was a pattern maker for the S E Hyman Company in Fremont, retiring in 1978, then became a self-employed upholsterer retiring in the early 1990s. On July 4, 1938 he married Rose A. Citriglia and she preceded him in death on August 27, 2001. Michael was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, nieces and nephews and caring for the neighborhood children.
Surviving are sisters, Mary Cicanese and May Chickeral, both of Monroe, MI, and many, many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, brother, Antonio Cinicola, sister, Edna Jezierski and two infant brothers.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or WSOS Meals on Wheels.
