Kathryn I. Kay Bass, 91 of Fremont died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at home. She was born on March 18, 1914 to Oleo & Kathryn (Gotron) Willis in Clyde. Kay graduated from Clyde High School in 1932. She was a server for the Fremont Country Club, Serwins, The Island House, and for the Hotel Fremont. Kay married Melvin R. Cooley, then Raymond Rice and later she married Jack R. Bass on August 21, 1978 and he died on May 29, 2004. Kay loved spending time with her children and volunteering for the first call for help hotline, and she was a member of the First United Church of Christ. Surviving her are children; Christopher (Karen) Cooley of Piqua, OH, Robert Cooley, Kim (Melody) Cooley all of Atlanta, GA, grandchildren; Jonathan (Carrie) Cooley of Noblesville, IN, Jason Cooley of Columbus, John Adams of Fremont, great-grandchildren; Gavin & Jordan Cooley of Noblesville, IN, and her special caregiver; Jerilynn Sharp of Fremont. She is preceded in death by her brother; Walter Willis, and her parents. Visitation will be held on May 3, 2005 at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont from 5-7 PM with funeral services to follow at 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Memorial Hospital or to the First United Church of Christ.
