Robert H. Baumer, 70, formerly of Fremont, died early Monday morning, May 22 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. He was born on May 29, 1935 in Fremont to the now deceased Robert G. and Mary Ellen (Ryan) Baumer. Robert was a graduate of Fremont Ross High and served in the U. S. Marines during the Korean Conflict where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. On February 16, 1963 he married Rosemary L. Shiets in Monroe, MI. She died June 8, 2004. Robert attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, was a member of the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and his grandchildren.
Surviving are sons, William J. (Pamela) Baumer of New Orleans, Robert A. Baumer of Fremont; daughter, Annette (Steve) Guggisberg of Fremont; brother Huey J. (Rita) Baumer of Coppers Cove, Texas; sister, Julane Ruth Marie (Robert) McCoy of Fremont; nine grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark Herzog officiating. Military services will be provided by the American Legion and the VFW.
