Fremont resident of the Rutherford House, Mildred L. Coonrod, age 84, died Saturday evening, April 19, at the Countryside Continuing Care Center, Fremont.
Mildred was born on January 26, 1924 in Vickery, Ohio to the now deceased John and Alice (Hodgkinson) Thompson. On November 6, 1942 she married her husband of over 54 years, Glenn Allen Coonrod in Angola, IN. Glenn died in September of 1997.
A homemaker, Mildred also formerly worked at Apex, Philco and New Departure companies in Sandusky and at Heinz and Woolworths in Fremont. She is a member of the Hayes Memorial United Methodist Church in Fremont, the Womens Auxillary of the Ballville Volunteer Fire Department and the Fremont Post of the American Legion, a former member of both the Fremont Moose and Eagles and she enjoyed gardening and collecting Precious Moments, glassware and Dickens Christmas Village pieces.
Mildred is survived by children Patricia (Steven) Lindsay, Gary (Brenda) and Tim (Dana) all of Fremont, grandchildren Kristen (Michael Schalk) Lindsay, Todd (Angela) Lindsay, Chad Lindsay, Jeremy Golden, Bryan (Stacy) Coonrod, and Aaron, Clint, Michael and William Bill Coonrod, a great-granddaughter and three great- grandsons, siblings Betty Gschwind of Clyde, Esther Gschwind of Hiram, OH and Kathryn (Gordon) Roach of Fremont and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Terrie Golden and brothers Donald and Charles Thompson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 23, 1:00 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fremont. Pastor Denise Turpin will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
