Philip James Berni, 66, of Gibsonburg, died on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. He was born on October 1, 1942 in Dillonvale, OH to Ross and Edna (Howell) Berni. On July 1, 1963 he married Sharon Marie Dunlap in New Philadelphia, Ohio and she preceded him in death on May 2, 2005. Philip worked for Mosser Construction for 28 years, retiring in March of 2006. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg, the Fremont Eagles, the Fremont and Fostoria Moose Lodge, the NRA and the Sandusky County Sportsmans Club. Philip was a big Notre Dame fan and enjoyed riding his Harley.
Surviving are daughters, Antonia (John) Henline of Gibsonburg, Mary Buckingham of Fremont, and Teresa (David) Busdeker of Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Angela (Frank) Zimmerman, Curtis, Taylor, Jessica, Daniel, Philip, Ricky and Sydney; great grandson Xander; and step brother Raymond Burdess. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home from 1p.m.- 3:30p.m. for visitation.
