Claribel Crego Snyder, 91, formerly of Gibsonburg and most recently living in Traverse City, MI, died on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Munson Medical Center in Traverse City due to complications of an automobile accident on October 12th. She was born on November 21, 1915 in Gibsonburg, OH to the now deceased Charles and Mabel (Shell) Shoemaker. Claribel worked for Autolite in Fostoria for 30 years, retiring in 1977. On August 15, 1933, she married Preston W. Crego and he died May 20, 1966. She married Harold E. Snyder on January 28, 1981 and he died November 11, 1997. Claribel was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother who enjoyed many hobbies. She loved life. Surviving are daughters, Alice B. Campeau of Traverse City, MI and Marilyn B. Godfry of Seattle, WA; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Norman L. Shoemaker of Mexico; sisters, Betty E. White of Mercer, PA, Beryl and Joan Shoemaker both of Gibsonburg. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers, George, Lewis, Roy and Willis Shoemaker, sisters, Marie Kasch and Dorothy Ory and one grandchild.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday, November 1, 2007 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Ralph Clink officiating. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion in Claribels memory.
