Roger Culbert, JD, 59 of Fremont, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, OH. He was born on March 23, 1947 in Fremont to the now deceased Robert E. and Helen (Fetter) Culbert. Roger was a 1965 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, attended Ohio Northern University, graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science, and the University of Toledo with a Juris Doctorate. He served twenty-six years in the U.S. Army JAG Corps, six years of active duty, served in Desert Storm and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in US Army Reserve. Roger was an attorney with Culbert & Culbert Law Firm in Fremont. He is survived by wife Sherri A. (Hilbert) Culbert who he married on April 4, 1970 in Cincinnati, OH. Roger was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Ohio State Bar Association, Sandusky County Bar Association, American Legion, Elks, Moose, Rotary, Demars Hunting Club, Izaak Walton League of America, Chamber of Commerce (former president), Fremont Downtown Business Association, Oakwood Cemetery Board of Directors (former Secretary and President), National Rifle Association, Ohio State Rifle Team Captain 1969 National Champions, OSU ROTC Pershing Rifle Club and the Varsity O Club. Surviving are children; Kelly Lynne Culbert (David) Peltier of Seattle, WA, Krista Lee (John) Hartman of Columbus and Kimberly Lou Culbert of Fremont; sisters, Suzanne (Michael) Wing, Cindy (Tom) Hoffman; brother Brad (Patty) Culbert and three grandchildren, Alexis Green, Jacob and Morgan Hartman. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Robert E. Culbert II. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 19 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Friday at Grace Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Paul Gruetter officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to the Humane Society of Sandusky County.
