Betty J. Bliss Blodgett

Betty J. (Bliss) Blodgett, 86 of Fremont died late Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Bellevue Hospital. She was born on April 27, 1922 to the now deceased Charles and Ellen (Hillman) Scherer. Betty attended Fremont Ross High School. In 1948 she married Pete Bliss in Fremont and later divorced. In the early 1980s Betty married Donald Blodgett and he is deceased. Betty was a homemaker, waitress and previously owned the Bean Pot. She also had worked at Echrich. Betty has lived in Florida for over 20 years. She was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship, the Moose, VFW, Eagles and volunteered at the Veterans home in Sandusky and Countryside Continuing Care Center, Fremont. Surviving are children: David (Rita) Bliss, Peggi Miller both of Fremont, Karen (Rick) Marquart of West Liberty, OH, Norbert (Cyndi) Bliss of Elmore, Rebecca (Robert) Witham of Hayden, Co, and Timothy Bliss of Fostoria; 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; stepdaughters, Carolyn (Harold) Billow of Helena and Hazel (Frank) Fedowitz of Manassas, VA. Preceding her in death are her parents, first husband Pete Bliss, daughter, Joan Marie Zink; siblings Melvin Scherer, Dorothy Clark, Mildred Walters, Charles Scherer and Wilfred Scherer. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. with one hour of visitation at the funeral home prior to the services. Pastor David Martin Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde. Memorials may be made to Victory Christian Fellowship in Bettys memory.
