Charles Augustus Damschroder

August 8, 1921 — February 7, 2005

Charles A. Damschroder, 83, Gibsonburg died early Monday morning at Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon. He was born on August 8, 1921 to Charles and Nellie (Cowley) Damschroder in Elmore, Ohio. Charles graduated from Elmore High School in 1939 and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a millwright at Chrysler Corporation in Perrysburg retiring in 1986. On December 19, 1941 he married Florence A. Ottney in Gibsonburg and she died January 30, 1996. Charles was a member of the American Legion Post 17 Gibsonburg.

Surviving Charles are children Charles H. (Delores) Damschroder, Dawn Burns, Mary Torok, all of Gibsonburg, 8 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, son Guy Christopher, sisters Mary Burgess, Gladys Veres and Anne Damschroder, brothers Wilbur, Burton and Donald Damschroder and one grandchild, Dina Lyn Burns.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 9th at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 4-8 p.m. Services will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Blair Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Harris-Elmore Union Cemetery.
