Gibsonburg resident Richard Scott Danner, age 57, died Friday morning, January 16, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
Born in Fostoria on July 27, 1951, he is the son of Richard Paul and Patricia Pat (Hollenbaugh) Danner. Scott graduated from Fostoria High School and served in the Army Rangers during the Vietnam Era. He worked at General Dynamics in Lima as a welder until his retirement in 1999. On September 16, 2000 he married Karri (Cohrs) Riedel in Delphos.
Scott was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg and was active in its Mens Group and its Youth Bible Study Classes. He was also a member of the Viet Nam Veterans of America.
Scott is survived by his wife of Gibsonburg, parents of Fostoria, children Brandi (Chad) Wonderly, Chris (Heidi) Danner all of Fostoria, step children Jennifer (Bob) Vasquez of Walbridge, Andrew Riedel of Gibsonburg, Bryan (Sarah) Bernal and Tricia Bernal, sisters Stacy (Jay) Cooper of all of Fostoria and Snookie (Terry) Sumpter of Memphis, TN and eight grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his brother Steve.
A Memorial Service of Celebration, with military honors, will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2:00 p.m., at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Gibsonburg. Pastor Fritz Merkes will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Honor Guard of the Gibsonburg American Legion Post. Friends will be received at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
