Helen (Ihnat) Darr, 87, of Fremont died early Thursday morning at the Fremont Memorial Hospital. She was born to the late John and Mary (Dziak) Ihnat on August 18, 1921 in Lakeside, OH. Helen graduated with her class at Lakeside High School. She married Norman Bud Darr at St. Joseph Catholic Church on February 4, 1948, and he preceded her in death on December 25, 1995. Helen worked at the former Charles Restaurant in Fremont, the Sandusky County ASCS office and Gordon Lumber in Fremont as a bookkeeper retiring in the early 80s.
Helen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont. She liked reading, gardening and playing pinochle and was in the T.O.B. card club. Helen enjoyed polka music and was a Dean Martin fan. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are children Nancy (William) Sielschott of Fremont, Barbara Darr of Fremont, and Thomas (Robin) Darr of Fremont; 3 granddaughters Carrie Sielschott, Tara (Joshua) Kiser, Toni (Wayne Biggert) Darr; great grandchildren James Darr, Gwen Kiser, Annabelle Kiser & Gabby Santiago; brother John (Alyce) Ihnat of Port Clinton; sister in laws Therese Whitcomb and Violet Darr both of Fremont, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by sisters Mary Ihnat, Agnes Senator and Elsie Ihnat.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 24, 2-8 p.m, at the Herman-Kinn- Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services vigil services will be held that evening at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. William Pifher officiating. Burial rites to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fremont.
