Clara Louis Davis

Clara L. Davis 97, formerly of Gibsonburg fell asleep in Jesus on September 15, 2005 at Otterbein Portage Valley Care Center.

She was born near Pemberville to Herman and Katherine (Specht) Richter on October 15, 1907. She married Clair E. Davis on February 7, 1935, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg. He preceded her March 10, 1998.

Clara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; giving and sharing her deep love of family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the recipients of gorgeous quilts and clothing items she made for them personally over the years.

Clara was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on May 20, 1923. She remained a member there her entire life. She also quilted over 30 years with the Mary-Martha Circle at Zion Lutheran Church.

Surviving are son Harold (Ann) Davis of Eau Claire, WI; daughters, Ruth (Lauren) Kroeger of Elmore, Esther (William) Rapp and Marjorie (Charles) Grove of Gibsonburg; sisters, Edith Gnieser of Bowling Green, Helen Hollabaugh of Toledo; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. Brother William Richter, sister Matilda and 3 grandchildren are deceased.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be on Monday at Zion Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Luther Home of Mercy, Otterbein Portage Valley in Pemberville or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
