Goldie Irene (Fickes) Bowers 78 of Bradner passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 21, 1929 in Bedford County, PA to Ralph & Ardella (Ickes) Fickes. Goldie attended Rollersville High School and worked for Bradner Industries from 1964-1987. She was a member of Bradner United Methodist Church, a 42 year member of the Bradner American Legion Auxillary and a 47 year member of the Woodbine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Pemberville. On January 16, 1960 she married Ned Eugene Bowers and he survives in Bradner. Also surviving are her two daughters; Barbara Lee (Heberling) (Wayne) Collins of Risingsun and Karen Sue (Bowers) (Harry) Lahman of Helena, grandchildren; Mark, Danny and Stuart Collins, Christopher Lahman and Dawn (Lahman) McDavitt, 9 great-grandchildren, along with her siblings; Ray (Sue) Sleek of Helena, Tony (Lola) Sleek of Millbury, Gene (Shirley) Sleek of Gibsonburg, Roy (Sally) Sleek of Fremont, Earl Sleek of Fostoria, Ned (Caroline) Sleek of Curtis, Ada Mae Meyers of Bradner, Nancy (Terry) Biddle of Kansas and Dorothy Ickes of Gibsonburg. Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Tex, Raymond, Wilbur and Harry Sleek and a sister; Lucy Sleek.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2007 at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Bradner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Goldies name to the Woodbine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star or to the Bradner American Legion.
