Mindy A. Diekman

May 18, 1959 — March 2, 2006

Mindy A. (Hoffman) Diekman, 46, of Hessville passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, March 2, 2006 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born in Fremont to Marlene (Baumer) and William (Bill) Hoffman. She graduated from Ross High School in 1977 and worked at the former Singer Controls (Eaton) in Fremont. She later worked as a sales clerk at Big Lots in Fremont until the onset of her illness in 2004. On Oct. 19, 1991 she married Steve Diekman at Faith Lutheran Church in Fremont and he survives. Also surviving are son, Christopher at home; mother, Marlene Hoffman and brother, Randy (Kay) Hoffman both of Fremont. Her father, William, preceded her in death. Mindy was a lifelong member of St. Anns Catholic Community in Fremont and also attended Faith Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Childrens Vacation Bible School Program. She was a pitcher while playing in local softball leagues and also coached girls softball teams in Fremont at the Junior High level. Her love of sports also included being on bowling leagues in Fremont for many years and being a very avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan. She was a loving mother who valued her child very much. In her spare time, she liked to do crossword puzzles and watch game shows. She enjoyed caring for her pets, especially her Old English Sheepdog, Muffin and babysitting for many of her friends children. Mindy also mentored students and volunteered in the library and cafeteria at Hilfiker Elementary School in Gibsonburg. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Chmiel and Pastor Robert Young officiating. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Fremont. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or donors choice.
