Life long Gibsonburg resident, Virginia M. Driftmyer, 83, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Fremont Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 20, 1927 to Clarence & Evelynne (Krauter) Schumaker. Virginia was a 1945 Gibsonburg High School graduate. She married James M. Driftmyer on March 8, 1949. Jim and Virginia founded City Blueprint of Toledo in 1965. She worked as a secretary there until her retirement. Virginia was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburgs Chatter Box Club and the Altar Rosary Society.
Surviving are her children Mary Jo (Matt) Cannizzaro of Denver CO and James E. (Linda) Driftmyer of Maumee; grandson, Austin (Haidee Fernandez) Driftmyer; great grandson, Colin Driftmyer; sisterin-law, Shirley Schumaker; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, who passed in September of 1996; mother, father and brothers, Harold and Jack Schumaker.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 16th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday the 17th beginning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church, Gibsonburg. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery.
