Betty L. Dye, 83 of Fremont, died early Friday, May 8th at Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on June 24, 1925 in Alexander, WV to Elmer S. and Maye (Harper) Brooks. On June 16, 1973 she married Jay Dye at St. Anns Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1999. Betty was a caregiver at Countryside Continuing Care, Hospice of Memorial Hospital and Kimberlys Nursing Service of Toledo. While working for Kimberlys, she received the #1 Nurses Aid in Northwest Ohio Award. She previously had worked at the former Buckeye Mart Department store before becoming a caregiver. Betty loved to story tell, sew and quilt. She enjoyed flowers, birds, squirrels and playing Bingo. Betty was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Green Springs.
Surviving are her children: Nona Rauch of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Fred (Lynn) Rohrbough of Fort Pierce, FL, Kay (Glen Haase) Lutz, Bobbi (Mike) Scofield, Bill (Regina) Rohrbough all of Fremont, Brenda Fay Lagrou of Vickery, Sam (Sally) Rohrbough of Hollywood, FL and Gale Espinoza of Tiffin; siblings, Dale Brooks of Orange City, FL, Alta Joan Brooks Shepard of Tallmadge, OH; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and a sister.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, May 11, 2009 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 111 S. Kansas St., Green Springs, OH at 11 a.m. Pastors Norman and Christine Grimes will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church or Hospice of Memorial Hospital.
