Charles M. Effinger, 76, of Fremont died unexpectedly at the St. Joseph Hospital in Parkersburg, WV early Friday morning, March 11, 2005.
He was born in Fremont to John and Dorothy Effinger on August 15, 1928. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Schools, graduating in 1947.
After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he attended the Cleveland Engineering Institute, first studying Civil Engineering then Architectual Design, which he later became registered in.
For the next fifteen years he worked with Thurman Peabody in Norwalk, OH. He then took over the business and for the following 30 years under the name of C.M.E. Architects, semi-retiring in October 2004. He has designed many buildings in Northwest Ohio and several in Fremont.
Margaret Bartlett and he were married at St. Anns Catholic Church in Fremont on October 7, 1950. She survives along with their son, Mark and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Casey, all of Fremont. His brother Donald also survives in North Carolina.
A brother, John and sisters Margaret, Dorothy, Emily and Mary precede him in death.
Charles was an avid golfer and fisherman and a member of the Fremont Country Club, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge and the American Institute of Architects.
A gathering of family and friends celebrating the life of Charles will be Sunday, April 10, from 1-3 p.m. at the Fremont Holiday Inn, 3422 North State Route 53.
