Earnest Edwin 'Ernie' Emrich, 87, of Fremont, died wednesday at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky after a brief illness and hip surgery. He was born to Fred and Cora (French) Emrich in Woodston, KS and raised in North Platte, NE. He moved to Fremont in 1935 residing most of his life at 617 Brush Place. Ernie was a combat veteran of WWII serving in the US Marine Corp 1st Division in the Pacific Theater. Surviving are his wife Betty Jane Schell of Fremont whom he married on July 6, 1948; and their three sons, Dennis and James both of Fremont and Edwin Emrich of Benton Harbor, MI; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Burial was at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.
