She operated a small farm apple and cider stand with her husband for over 20 years where she was known affectionately as "The Apple Lady" and graciously welcomed and enjoyed visiting with customers of all ages. She was also a member of The American Association of University Women, Kappa Delta Pi Honorary, The National Education Association, Gibsonburg Garden Club, and devoted many years to Sandusky County Habitat for Humanity.
Jane was an avid reader and active patron and supporter of Birchard Public Library. She remained an ardent gardener throughout her life and spent many happy and productive hours working with her flowers and vegetables where she could often be seen accompanied by her beloved dog, Ruby. Always optimistic and cheerful, she was faithful and loyal to family and friends and was happiest in the company of those whom she loved and cherished.
