Carolyn Jean Foster

Carolyn Jean Foster, 74, of Helena, died on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 12, 1934 in Fremont to the now deceased Elmer & Rosalie (Kontak) Taulker. On April 25, 1953, she married Joseph R. Foster and he survives. Carolyn worked as a clerk at Kirwens Super Market for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Fan and loved the Ohio State University Marching Band (OSUMB). In her younger days, she bowled on a couple of different bowling teams. She also tended to a large garden and enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables. Carolyn passed the time by baking, knitting and quilting. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are children James Foster of Risingsun, Cheryl (Gary) Hoodlebrink of Woodville, Barbara Wagner of Bowling Green, Susan (Rick) Engle of Risingsun; grandchildren, Angela (Jeff) Williams, Carie (Adam) Cufr, Dana Miller, Jason Bomer, Aaron (Kristen) Bomer, Jullian (Jay) Ellis, Gregory (Rachel) Hoodlebrink, Jennifer Bomer; step granddaughter, Danielle Engle; brother, Elmer (Dorothy) Taulker of Oley, PA; half-sister, Donna Sgro; 17 great grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive Carolyn. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Anna LaFave Souder and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 28 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Duty officiating. Burial will follow at Graham Cemetery in Wayne, OH.

Memorial donations may be made to the United Way Cancer Fund, OSU Band Scholarship Fund or a charity of the donors choice in Carolyns memory.

The family wants to thank all the caregivers at Fremont Memorial Hospital, Bethesda Care Center, Fremont, St. Francis in Green Springs, St. Vincent Hospital of Toledo and St. Vincent Pain Care Clinic.
