Dorotha B. Gahn

Dorotha B. Gahn, 96, of Fremont, died on Wednesday, September 8, 2009 at Elmwood Assisted Living in Fremont. She was born on July 11, 1913 in Paulding, OH to Daniel and Elizabeth (Bolier) Ankey. Dorotha was a 1931 graduate of Paulding High School. On September 21, 1935, she married Myron H. Gahn at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Paulding and he preceded her in death March 12, 1997. She was a loving homemaker. She was employed for 14 years by Fremont Schools in the Cafeteria, mostly at the Jr. High School. Dorotha was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for more than fifty years, a former Sunday School teacher, a former member of the Evangelism Committee, a past member of the Altar Guild Service Group. She enjoyed needle point, cooking and gardening. Dorotha was a very thoughtful person and loved sending cards to everyone. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are children, Judy Gangwer of Fremont, Sharon (John) Ranchan of Oregon, Mary Lou Butchko of Dundee, MI, Bruce (Shelley) Gahn of Liberty Township, OH; grandchildren, Michele (Tom) Gaskins, Jodi (Tom) Stults, Daniel (Michele) Gangwer, Matthew Butchko, Gina (Jeff) Hibshman and Jeffrey Gahn; ten great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, son-in-law, David Gangwer and grandson, Derrick Stults.

Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2009 from 3-7 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont. Services will be held on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. with one hour of visitation at church prior to the service. Certified Celebrant, Maureen Pump will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or to Stein Hospice in Dorothas memory.
