Lindsey resident Ronald Geller, age 64, died early Tuesday morning, September 2 at the St. Vincents Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
Ronald was born on January 4, 1944 in Elmore, OH to the now deceased John and Edell (Behlmer) Geller. On July 4, 1964 he married the love of his life Patricia Kimball. She survives.
Ronald graduated from Oak Harbor High School, class of 1963. He first worked at Crescent Manufacturing for several years before his career with the Whirlpool Corp. of Clyde, where he retired in 2005 after thirty three years.
In the town of Lindsey, he served as a police chief, a volunteer of the Lindsey Fire Department, a town councilman and mayor for the 92-96 term. He was president and sexton of the Lindsey Cemetery Association and president of the Village Energy Co-op Assoc. (VECA) in which he played an essential role in obtaining natural gas in Lindsey and surrounding areas. As a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hessville, he served on the church council and played dartball.
Ron will be sadly missed by his loved ones and many friends. He was a genuine one of a kind and happy to give a hand to anyone. He enjoyed collecting books, cowboy memorabilia, riding his bike and listening to polka music. He was a huge fan of the OSU Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He also enjoyed travelling the US. He and his wife have seen 48 states.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by his children, Pam (Ben) Esker of Dublin, Jeff (Robin) of North Canton and Brian (Dawn) of Lindsey; grandchildren Nathan, Matthew, Grayson, Zachary, Austin, Brianna and Cyle; sisters Joyce (Cliff) Shaler of Michigan, Joan (John) Wodrich of Alabama, Janet Fillmore of Rocky Ridge, June (Jack) Skaggs of Woodville, Judy (Tom) Edington of Kentucky, Jackie Wagner of Rocky Ridge; and sister-in-laws Anita Geller of Fremont and Diane Geller of Graytown.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Roger and Ed Geller.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 5, 3-9 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 900 North St, Fremont. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hessville where there will be an additional hour of visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
