Lois Louise Gilmore, age 84, from Woodville, Ohio, passed away September 7, 2005. Lois was a loving, wonderful, and devoted mother, grandmother and wife. Lois had a wonderful gift of making everyone she met feel special. She was a very giving person who tried to please others. She instilled the respect and love of nature and animals in her family. She had a youthful outlook and loved camping, canoeing, traveling, bicycling, cross-country skiing, and especially dancing and swimming. She had a beautiful God-given talent of singing.
Lois was born in Neguanee, Michigan on June 14, 1921. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Greve, of Chicago, and parents, Myron and Carrie Greve of Detroit. Lois was a graduate of Eastern High School, Detroit, and was a secretary at Chrysler Auto Manufacturing. She belonged to the Womens Auxiliary Service Organization and to the choir at Eastside Presbyterian Church in Detroit.
Lois was enlisted into the U.S. Navy Waves from 1944 until 1946 and served at Fort Lauderdale Naval Air Station. She married Atwell E. Gilmore from Culpeper, VA in 1946. She and Atwell owned and operated Zips Cafeteria in Woodville, OH for twenty years. She was a member of Woodville United Methodist Church.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 59 years, Atwell; son Jeffrey (Marian) Gilmore of Bayfield, CO; daughter, and best friend, Faye (Jerry) Sikora, of Tallmadge, OH; granddaughters, Wendy (Steve) Petteys of Perrysburg, OH, Eve (Mark) Gilmore of Durango, CO and Sheila Sikora of Maumee, OH; grandsons, David Sikora of Wadsworth, OH and Alex Gilmore of Maumee, OH; great-grandson Carter Petteys of Perrysburg, OH; and faithful and loving friend, Marg (Glen) Haas of Fremont, OH.
