Ruth V. Hawk, 84 of Green Springs where she had been residing for the past two and a half years and formerly of Fremont died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Elmwood Assisted Living, Green Springs. She was born on February 12, 1924 in Fremont to William E. & Catherine M. (Flahiff) Batesole. Ruth graduated from Ross High School in 1943 and on August 9, 1947 she married Rollin A. Hawk at St. Ann Catholic Church, Fremont. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1997. Ruth was a housewife and she was the Field Secretary for the Sandusky Co. branch of the American Heart Association for 25 years. Ruth was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fremont where she was a member of the choir and the Altar Rosary Society. She loved crocheting, traveling to Las Vegas, gardening, spending time with her friends, family and her grandsons. Ruth loved Christmas.
Surviving are two daughters; Susan (Mark) Pumphrey of Clyde and Sarah (Rick) Fawley of Toledo, 7 grandsons; Andrew, Adam & Aaron Pumphrey all of Clyde; Kevin, Taylor & Derrick Fawley all of Toledo and Jared Fawley of Las Vegas. She is also survived by her siblings; Rosalyn (Burdett) Miller, Donald (Pauline) Batesole, Elizabeth Stang all of Fremont, Catherine (Daniel) Witter of Port Clinton, Gerald (Ruby) Batesole of Sandusky and James (Judy) Batesole of Traverse City, MI. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother; Daniel Batesole and sister; Margaret Perry.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 from 2-8 PM at the Herman-Kinn-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fremont with a wake service that afternoon. A funeral mass will be said on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fremont with Rev. William Pifher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Fremont. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association NW Ohio Chapter, (CEDF) Catholic Education Development Fund, or to the donors choice.
The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the staff and residents of Elmwood Assisted Living for all their compassionate loving care and friendship she received while at Elmwood. They would also like to thank Dr. Francis Aona and staff for their continuous care and friendship for many years, the staff at Memorial Hospital and Arbors of Clyde for their care during her stay and to Hospice of Memorial Hospital for all of their support.
