Richard L. Hills, 77, of Ball St., Fremont, died Tuesday morning at the Bay Park Community Hospital in Oregon, OH. He was born on November 25, 1924 to Lyle and Helen (Smith) Hills. Dick graduated from Findlay High School and received an Associate Certificate in Engineering from Princeton University, a Bachelor of Schience Degree from the then Colorado University and a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Toledo. He served in the Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart as well as the European, African, Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Bronze Stars. He was also a life member of the Fremont VFW and a member of the Eagles Aerie and Moose Lodge both of Fremont. Richard began working as a principal fo the former Riley Schools and retired in 1981 from the Sandusky County Schools where he had been director of Federal Projects. He then worked for Nickles Bakery in Fremont for ten years until the onset of illness erlier this year. On November 25, 1948 he married Alice M. Doll in Findlay. She died June 28, 1997. Surviving is son, Thomas (Vickey) Hills of Fremont; granddaughters, Stephani (Steve) Letzring of Kansas, Lori (John) Gonzales and Nanci (Jake) Kosanka both of Fremont; step granddaughters, Kristin and Kelly Hossler and four great-grandchildren. His parents, wife of 48 years, brother, Clarence Hills and sister Rosella Ernst precede him in death.
