William R. Hinkle, 85, of Gibsonburg and previously of Woodville died Thursday, February 09, 2006 at Memorial Hospital, Fremont. He was born on October 12, 1920 in Greenspring, WV to Newton and Myrtle (Mauk) Hinkle. William served in the US Army during WWII being stationed in Germany. On May 3, 1947, he married Dorothy Shaw and she died on November 10, 2003. He is survived by daughters, Barbara (Gary) Minich of Decatur, IL, Sherry Liskai of Fremont, Jodie (Tom) Samson of Gibsonburg; sons, William R. (Shelley) Hinkle II of Woodville and Scott Hinkle of Fremont; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, a grandson, David Hinkle, sister, Helen Hinkle and brother, Howard Hinkle. William worked at the Herbrand Company and Harbor Manufacturing, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the VFW.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2006 from 3-6 p.m. at the Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg. Services will be held at the funeral home with Pastor Blair Miller officiating on Monday, February 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery with military rites performed by the Gibsonburg American Legion. Memorial donations may be made to the Gibsonburg EMS, Gibsonburg Fire Dept. in Williams name or the donors choice.
